Guillotine Glass Systems

Offering an alternative solution for restaurants, cafés, hotels and patisseries, guillotine systems work by moving the glass panels horizontally up and down. Thanks to the motorized system, they can be controlled by button or remote.

When the system is open, the glass acts as a railing; when closed, it provides sound, thermal and water insulation. It is secure and does not require an additional lock.

Highlighted Features

Motorized System

Button and remote control. With a single remote you can operate up to 20 systems simultaneously.

Security

Self-locking when closed; cannot be opened from outside or inside. No additional lock required.

Insulation

Provides sound, thermal and water insulation. Brush seals deliver extra weatherproofing performance.

Easy Maintenance

Thanks to modular side rails, repair work and glass replacement can be performed without removing the product.

Why a Guillotine Window System?

Guillotine windows, with their vertically sliding design, offer fully open ventilation + an aesthetic facade appearance. They are particularly preferred in modern architecture for high-rise buildings.

1. Fully open ventilation

While sliding systems open only halfway, guillotine systems slide all the way up — leaving the lower opening completely free. In summer, the garden and the interior become a single space.

2. Modern facade aesthetics

The visible frame is minimal; the glass surface continues seamlessly as part of the architectural facade. The architect's choice for luxury apartments, boutique hotels and villas.

3. High-rise building strength

With its 4+16+4 mm insulated glass and rugged profile structure, the Apollon Plus series provides EN 12210 class 5 wind resistance. A safe choice for buildings on the 10th floor and above.

4. Motorized operation

The Apollon, Apollon Plus and Cotill series operate via remote control, wall panel or mobile app, with LCF, BECKER, CUPON or SOMFY motor options; they integrate with home-automation systems.

5. Thermal and acoustic insulation

On insulated-glass series, A+ energy class and 35-40 dB sound insulation are standard with 4+16+4 mm Low-E glass + thermal-break profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions answered by our experts.

What is the difference between a guillotine window and a sliding system?

Guillotine systems open on the vertical axis — the glass panel slides upward, leaving the lower opening completely free. Sliding systems open horizontally. Guillotine is preferred in spaces where front-facade aesthetics and fully open ventilation are desired.

How does a motorized guillotine system work?

In our motorized series (Apollon, Apollon Plus, Cotill), an LCF, BECKER, CUPON or SOMFY motor moves the glass panel up and down at a controlled speed. It can be operated via remote control, wall panel and mobile app; in case of a power outage, manual repositioning to the open position is possible.

What is the difference between Apollon, Apollon Plus and Cotill series?

The Apollon series is an economical solution optimized for standard residences with 8 mm tempered glass. Apollon Plus uses 4+16+4 mm insulated glass and is developed for high-rise buildings; it provides top-level thermal and acoustic insulation. Cotill is an economical and flexible guillotine solution with 8 mm or 4+12+4 glass, 1.5 mm aluminum profile and 2/3/4 glass options.

How wind-resistant are guillotine systems?

Thanks to our profile structure and locking mechanism, our series have passed EN 12210 wind-resistance class tests. For high-rise building applications, the Apollon Plus series with 4+16+4 insulated glass is recommended.

What are the energy-saving features of guillotine windows?

The insulated-glass series deliver A+ energy class performance with a thermal-break profile + 4+16+4 mm double-glazing combination. They retain interior heat in winter and shield against solar heat in summer, reducing the air-conditioning load.
